Phillip

The goat is an animal that is often associated with mythology, and one that continues to be a point of reference in Ryan’s practice. Often referencing the underworld, goats can be seen as an animal that has ominous connotations. In the work ‘Phillip’ Ryan pays a playful homage to a popular culture reference in which a goat is used to symbolise such a character. 

Ryan is interested in the way readings of a particular species can affect the way we engage with these animals.
